Last year we set up a patient representative group with the intention of having regular meetings to discuss future plans for the surgery and to involve our patients in the process of examining new or better ways in which we can deliver health care to the local population. Thank you to those of you who attended the inaugural 'Patient representative Group'. We regret to say that due to losing two of our staff to maternity leave and having also had the upheaval of losing Dr Lynch and our practice manager that these meeting have not happened on the regular basis we had hoped for. Another meeting has been scheduled and we do hope to reinstate these as a regular feature, two or three times yearly. |
| Patient Questionnaires |
|
Thank you for completing the questionnaires about our practice over the course of this year. We are pleased that the vast majority of patients continue to be happy with the service which we offer and are grateful for your many kind and generous comments. A summary of the results can be seen below. For those interested in looking at the detailed figures they are present on a spreadsheet here. There are two areas which we clearly need to improve on. A) The amount of time you are kept waiting in the surgery and B) the hours of availability of the doctors and nurses and we would like to offer a commitment to improving both. We have a policy of seeing any patient who presents as an urgent case or an emergency and because of the unpredictable nature of illness, there are times when delays are unavoidable. However the doctors and nurses are being asked to make concerted efforts to avoid long delays and I hope that you will notice an improvement in this respect. In addition we are also putting measures in place to offer a limited number of evening surgeries which may suit patients who find it difficult to get appointments during the daytime. Questionnaire Information: 200 questionnaire were completed in the year between April 2007 and 2008, 50 for each doctors and nurse. The following graphs summarise the findings:
